Mooncakes anyone?

Just received some lovely homemade mooncakes yesterday so paused to look at their round moon symbolism as we approach the equinox and shift of seasons. Apparently there are several origin stories, but I’ll share the story that “suggests that mooncakes played a role in China’s liberation from the Mongols in the 14th century… the Han people baked secret messages about rebelling against the Mongols into the desserts, [and ultimately] led to the collapse of the Mongols and Yuan dynasty." Wow!
